      FAQs

      Are you accepting new clients?

Yes! We are happy to add new clients to the Tacoma Equine family! Please take a moment to complete this New Client Registration and we will get you added to our system.

      Who Should I Call?

We recommend that you always call the office first. While you may have a doctor’s cell number, they aren’t always on-call, may be busy at an appointment or might have a day off or be on vacation. The office is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday and after hours we have an answering service that will direct you to the correct doctor-on-call.

How far will you travel and what is the farm call fee?

We have a fairly large practice area that covers all of Pierce county and parts of King, Kitsap and Thurston counties. You can view our service area map under the “About Us” section. The farm call fee covers the cost of our time and fuel to go to farm appointments. The fee will vary depending on what “zone” your farm falls into. You can contact the office for a farm call quote.

      Can we come to you?

Yes! We offer haul-in appointments at our hospital and there is a $10 haul-in fee.

How much will my visit cost?

We are always more than happy to provide you with an estimate – and urge clients to get one prior to their visit or to budget for work needed later in the year.

How can I pay for my visit?

Payment at the time of service is expected and we accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit.

Can I keep a card on file in case of emergency?

Yes, if you would like to keep a credit card on file with us, please contact the office.

Do I have to be at my appointment?

While we prefer and encourage owners to be present at their horse’s appointment, we are able to provide services without them as each doctor travels with a veterinary assistant. We would just need to know specifically what you would like done, where your horse is located, and payment arrangements have been made ahead of time. We would also prefer that you be available by phone in the event that the doctor needs to reach you during the appointment.
